The St Lucia Fire and Emergency Service is concerned about an increase in motor vehicle fires prompting a call to motorists to ensure that their vehicles are in good working condition. This as the Department responded to 87 calls over the weekend which varied in nature.
The St. Lucia Fire and Emergency Service is urging motorists to service their vehicles regularly and ensure that electrical fittings are in proper working condition. The call comes against the backdrop of an increase in motor vehicle fires . Just over the weekend the department responded to one such fire. The driver was able to put out the blaze before fire fighters arrived causing the Fire Service to recommend that motorists travel with fire extinguishers in their vehicles
There were 8 fire calls one physical assault report and four motor vehicle accidents 2 of which involved pedestrians.
The Fire Service and Emergency Service responded to 87 ambulance calls over the weekend.
