Police are investigating a stabbing over the weekend the claimed the life of a Guyanese national. On Sunday February 24, 2019 about 5:00 a.m. officers attached to the Marchand Police Station, responded to a report of a stabbing at Bagatelle, Castries.

Michael Pooran, a twenty six (26) year old Guyanese National, residing in Bagatelle, Castries was conveyed to the Victoria Hospital, via ambulance, after having allegedly sustained several stab wounds about his body. He was later formally pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for a subsequent date.

Friends of Michael Pooran describe him as one who always made people happy. 

One of Pooran’s friends said  the assailant was well known to them, one with whom the deceased had shared food drinks and cigarettes.  He said  the party where the altercation happened started  late but Pooran was determined to go.

The Friend described Pooran as a quiet person who does not look for trouble with anyone. He spent  most of his time on the social networks and  loved to have a good time

One individual is currently in police custody in relation to this incident. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
