MAYOR GETS TOUGH ON SIDEWALK PARKING

The Mayor of Castries, Peterson Francis in an effort to prevent damage to pavements and sidewalks is moving to enforce rules prohibiting parking on city sidewalks. Goods vehicles are among the biggest violators.

According to the Press and Communications Manager within the Office of the Mayor, heavy goods vehicles using sidewalks to park while offloading or loading goods is damaging city infrastructure and putting an additional financial burden on the Castries Constituencies Council, which must carry out the required repairs.

The Mayor is urging goods vehicle drivers to utilize the Loading Zones and Bays constructed for their use.

If the practice persists, then action will be taken against the violators.

The crackdown on Illegal offloading or loading of goods vehicles on the City sidewalks is already underway.
