VENDORS PRESIDENT SAYS TRUMP MEETING WAS A BAD IDEA

President of the Craft and Dry Goods Vendors Association Peter Isaac says Prime Minister Allen Chastanet should have taken a stand with the rest of CARICOM by respectfully declining the invitation to attend the March 22 nd meeting with US President Donald Trump. Mr. Isaac’s comments come amid criticism that the President has caused a rift among Caribbean leaders

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet argued that the meeting was not a CARICOOM meeting and that the US offers St. Lucia the largest opportunity for economic growth. However President of the Craft and Dry Goods Vendors Association Peter Isaac does not agree. He says on the principle of Caribbean Unity the Prime Minister should have declined the invitation

Mr. Isaac highlighted what he feels is a spirt of cowardice among CARICOM. He says it’s not about military prowess or financial power, it’s about standing up for principle regardless of size

Mr.  Isaac cited Cuba as an example which prevailed against the US despite a 50 year embargo
