TODAY IS WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY

A number of individuals and groups here joined in global activities to mark World Autism Awareness Day. Every year, April 2nd is celebrated the world over as World Autism Awareness Day, and April, Autism Awareness Month. This year’s theme is “Assistive Technologies, Active Participation”..

Institutions the world over have chosen to wear the color Blue to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day.  The entire month of April is designated Autism Awareness Month. The Dunnottar School’s Principal and teachers prepared a full  calendar of activities.

Someday, Dunottar’s principal Ms. Antonia Joseph says, she hopes to celebrate not just autism awareness but also autism acceptance by the wider society.

Curriculum Officer for Early Childhood, Antoninus Thomas says it really hurts to know that persons with Autism are still being stigmatized and marginalized.

A number of organisations around the island who work with autistic and special needs children will come together to host a sports Day on April 4th at the Mindoo Philip Park.
