Issues relating to fringe benefits such as allowances for Fire Officers are expected to be resolved by the end of this month. According to the Fire Service Association this came out of Thursday’s meeting between the Association and the Government Negotiating Team. However several other matters which led to a 10 day strike by Fire Officers remain unresolved

The meeting between the Fire Service Association and the Government Negotiating team was to discuss proposals that  were made a few months prior to the industrial action taken by  Fire Officers. The proposal includes salary negotiations, working conditions and fringe benefits  relating to various allowances  for the 2016/2019 period

According to the Association the Government Negotiating Team promised to  get back to the Association these matters. But the Association says if all goes well this set of issues should be settled by the end of April. .But there still other issues plaguing  the Fire service like the matter of promotions. The Association says A committee comprising Fire Service Association and Government  Officials have been set up to look into the matter.
