LIBRARIES FIGHT TO REMAIN RELEVANT

The National Association of Libraries and Information Professionals held a symposium on Thursday which focused on 10 highlights and 10 opportunities from the international Federation of library associations Global Vision summery report. The activity took place at the Central Library.

The President of the National Association of Libraries and information Professionals Daisy St Rose says the input of the local members in the Global Association is key to the formulation of united responses to the ever increasing challenges that libraries face the world over.

Getting school libraries enhanced has been a challenge for the association in recent times.

Despite the heavy reliance on technology she says libraries still have an important function

Libraries, Ms. St. Rose says, are just as effective as the internet, only that most of what appears in the books tend to be 95% more accurate.
