PM SAYS MEDIA GOT IT WRONG. RAYMOND STILL A GOV. MINISTER

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says Senator Dr. Ubaldus Raymond remains a minister of his cabinet pending the outcome of an investigation.

Earlier this week Prime Minister Chastanet dismissed media reports that Dr. Raymond had resigned as Public Service Minister and a government Senator.

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet stands by his decision to have Dr. Ubaldus Raymond remain a government minister and senator pending the outcome of an investigation into the latest scandal involving the minster. Raymond is thought to be the male in telephone conversations with a woman being circulated on social media. In 2017 he was linked to another scandal in which two teenage girls were accused of blackmailing the Minister by threatening to release nude photos purportedly of him.

While the prime minister says he does not condone such activities, he has many questions about the origin of the leaked conversations and the identity of the young lady involved. He also wants to know whether other such recordings exist.

Former Prime Minister Stephenson King earlier this week described the Dr. Ubaldus Raymond scandal as unfortunate.

In 2017 two young women were charged with attempting to blackmail the Senator and Government Minister when they threatened to publish nude photos allegedly of him.
