The importance of disaster preparedness, business continuity and the role of insurance will all be examined at the second annual Insurance symposium being put on by the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture on April 30th 2019.
Following the destruction caused in the region in 2017 by two category 5 hurricanes, the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce thought it a good idea to help businesses devise effective disaster preparedness plans to ensure the continuity of their enterprises in the aftermath of major disasters.
According to the Chamber, it is important for businesses to have continuity plans which serve a vital role in limiting the negative impacts of a disaster.
One way to do so is to have suitable and sufficient insurance coverage.
One insurance consultant believes that having insurance coverage will mitigate the risks. This is important if one wishes to rebound quickly after a catastrophe.
This year the symposium will also tackle in depth discussions on two very important issues in insurance; health insurance and pensions.
Two critical areas of interest, to the business community.
The initiative is being supported strongly by Beacon Insurance Co. Ltd.
The second edition of the Insurance Symposium will take place on 30th April 2019 at the Financial Administrative Centre, Point Seraphine.
