TRUCK PLUNGES OVER CLIFF KILLING DRIVER

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Paul Simeina, as a result of a vehicular accident which occurred on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Barre De L’Isle, near Tomazo, Dennery.

The sixty eight year old (68), originally of Ravine Poisson, residing at Morne Fortune, Castries, was the sole occupant of the motor truck, registration number TJ 4549, which veered off the road and went over a precipice. Paul Simeina was conveyed to the Dennery Hospital and later pronounced dead by a medical practitioner.

The Royal St. Lucia Police Force has launched an investigation into the island’s latest road fatality.

According to officials of RG Group of Companies, Paul Simeina left the quarry at Cul d Sac Wednesday afternoon, to deliver a truck load of sand to a customer in the south of the island.

At approximately 4:30 pm on his approach to Tomazo Dennery, Simeina is believed to have lost control of his truck, veering off the road, and plunging down a precipice.

Simeina has been employed with the RG Group of Companies since January 2018 and has been described as a good and responsible driver.

Video of the truck at the bottom of the precipice has been circulated online

The truck could still be seen at the bottom of the cliff with parts completely ripped off. It is still unclear what could have caused the truck to veer off the road.

The deceased leaves behind four children.

A post mortem examination is scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2019.
