LIBRARIANS USE READING MONTH AND PRESS FREEDOM DAY TO ENCOURAGE WRITING & JOURNALISM CAREERS

The National Association of Librarians has convened  a writing and publishing  workshop at the Central Library. The workshop which coincides with reading month celebrations and world press freedom day observances today, focused  on  online publishing and creative writing among other subjects.

The National Association of Librarians has been organizing activities to mark May as Reading Month for quite a while. But in recent times the Association has targeted different audiences to make the annual event more interesting. This time around  media practitioners have been targeted and the response has been phenomenal. The activity  coincides with reading month and world press freedom day celebrations.

Facilitators sought to  give  participants  a better understanding  of  journalism,, creative writing and online publishing. They are encouraging persons to pursue careers in any of these fields

The workshop was held at the Central Library
