For the first time Jazz artistes affiliated with the Lincoln Center in New York have collaborated with St. Lucia Jazz organizers to host four workshops for local artistes and music students. On Wednesday, world renowned trumpeter Etiene Charles conducted the first workshop in the series.
The Director of Ticket Sales and Marketing at Jazz at Lincoln Center, India Haggins says that education is an important part of what happens at the Lincoln Center. Through hosting these workshops-especially for children-it can help ensure the longevity of the jazz artform
Miss Haggins says this collaboration between the Jazz at Lincoln Center and Saint Lucia Jazz is the first of its kind in the Caribbean.
Miss Haggins says the overseas Jazz artistes are as excited as some of the fans about the performances.
The workshop series will continue until Saturday at the Golden Palm auditorium at Rodney Heights.
