The Government of Saint Lucia, through the Youth and Sports Ministry is looking into the role of sports in tackling crime.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development underlines the growing contribution of sports as a tool for peace in its promotion of tolerance and respect.
According to officials at the Youth Development Ministry, the government plans to use a variety of sporting disciplines including basketball, boxing and cycling to engage young people in hard to reach areas.
The plan is to increase investment in sport and physical activity along with sporting infrastructure in hot spot areas.
