The Saint Lucia Citizenship by Investment Board has issued a sharply worded statement denouncing what it described as a “failed attempt to threaten, embarrass, and extort” the board. This comes in the wake of the voluntary withdrawal of a RICO lawsuit filed by Philippe Martinez against Mc Claude Emmanuel, CEO of the Citizenship by Investment Unit. However, the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) maintains that the withdrawal does not absolve the government from addressing lingering questions about the transparency and governance of the island’s Citizenship by Investment Programme.
