CIP Board Responds to RICO Lawsuit Withdrawal, UWP Presses for Answers
The Saint Lucia Citizenship by Investment Board has issued a sharply worded statement denouncing what it described as a “failed attempt to threaten, embarrass, and extort” the board. This comes in the wake of the voluntary withdrawal of a RICO lawsuit filed by Philippe Martinez against Mc Claude Emmanuel, CEO of the Citizenship by Investment Unit. However, the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) maintains that the withdrawal does not absolve the government from addressing lingering questions about the transparency and governance of the island’s Citizenship by Investment Programme.
SLASPA Urges Prompt Cargo Collection Amid Storage Challenges
The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority and the Customs and Excise Department are calling on the public to promptly collect their cargo from the Castries port. A growing backlog of unclaimed items is causing significant storage challenges, prompting the appeal.
SLASPA has also flagged concerns about a surge in imported vehicles, with additional shipments expected in the coming weeks. Vehicle owners are being urged to retrieve their vehicles promptly to prevent further congestion and ensure the smooth operation of port facilities.
