The United Nations Permanent Forum for People of African Descent convened a significant conference on Thursday, December 12th, in Bridgetown, Barbados. Among the attendees was the Iyanola Council for the Advancement of Rastafari (ICAR), representing Saint Lucia. The forum aimed to revise and finalize a draft declaration promoting respect for people of African descent in the post-colonial era.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has confirmed that the Rock Hall housing project will proceed in the new year, but without the involvement of Bemax Caribbean. The company’s Director, who was arrested in Montenegro earlier this year on smuggling charges, has prompted the government to take decisive action.
During his end-of-year press conference on Wednesday, the Prime Minister announced that the government has suspended its contract with Bemax.
