Customs Department Celebrates Staff
The St. Lucia Customs and Excise Department is marking International Customs Day with a series of activities for its staff. These events, which began on January 16th, will culminate on Saturday, January 25th, as the department prepares to celebrate International Customs Day on Sunday, January 26th.
THC Pushes For Fair Cannabis Access
As Saint Lucia prepares to establish its cannabis industry, The Herbal Cooperative (THC) is urging fair opportunities for long-time advocates and marginalized groups, such as Rastafarians. The Cannabis and Industrial Hemp Bill, set for enactment in early 2025, aims to regulate the industry, with public consultations ongoing until February 7.
Call For Firearms Investment
Former National Security Minister Hermangild Francis is calling for greater investment in firearms investigations. With most homicides involving guns, he stresses the need for better tools to trace weapons and stricter firearm regulations, especially for companies. Francis believes these measures can help reduce gun violence.
