Recognising the limitations of the existing classification system, established nearly three decades ago, the Minister has underscored the urgency of this reform. The initiative aims to modernise public service operations, ensuring that job classifications align with current needs and that recruitment processes are more equitable and efficient. Saint Lucia’s Youth Economy Agency (YEA) is intensifying efforts to empower young entrepreneurs. Recent initiatives include a week-long Business Readiness Workshop covering legal and financial aspects of business, and the launch of the “Introduction to Bookkeeping” training programme, providing participants with essential financial management skills. Additionally, the YEA, in collaboration with the Taiwanese Embassy, hosted the second annual Youth Investment Forum, focusing on sectors like agriculture, digital economy, and youth entrepreneurship to promote investment and innovation.

SAINT LUCIA EMBRACES INNOVATION TO HARNESS MARINE RESOURCES SAFELY

Saint Lucia is prioritizing innovation to responsibly utilize its marine resources. At the launch of Innovation and Creativity Week, the focus was on the Blue Economy’s potential to drive sustainable change. This aligns with the Unleashing the Blue Economy of the Caribbean (UBEC) Project, a strategic initiative aimed at revitalizing economic growth through marine and coastal resilience across sectors like tourism, fisheries, and waste management. The project seeks to enhance climate resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness within Saint Lucia’s blue economy.

UWI GLOBAL CAMPUS DONATES TO NATIONAL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus has made a significant donation to the National Community Foundation (NCF) of Saint Lucia. This contribution is expected to enhance the NCF’s capacity to fulfill its mission of supporting initiatives that promote self-development and social upliftment. The NCF, a philanthropic non-profit organization established in 2002, relies on partnerships with various stakeholders, including educational institutions like UWI, to advance its programs.
