Local fans of veteran Trinidadian calypsonian Sandra “Singing Sandra” Des Vignes Millington have been reacting to new of her passing. News of her death broke around 7 AM Thursday. Singing Sandra, a two time calypso Monarch known for her powerful voice and hit songs “Die with My Dignity” and “Voices from the Ghetto” passed away at her Chaguanas home in Trinidad and Tobago at the age of 64.

More tragedy has struck a Monchy family. Two siblings Cecilia and Sylvester Louis were gunned down in separate shootings in July and September of 2020. Now their father William Mathurin, has passed.

A family is seeking answers from the Owen King Hospital after their relative died while seeking treatment at the facility. The family of 28 year old Michelle Wilfred, is alleging negligence on the part of health personnel at the OKEU. The hospital has promised an investigation into the events that led to the death of the mother of two who came in complaining of sharp abdominal pains on Sunday, January 6, 2021.

St. Lucia records its first homicide for 2021 after one of two shooting victims succumbed ot his injuries. The two community of Faux-A- Chaud, Castries, were shot on the evening of Monday January 4th, 2021 at approximately 9:30.

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says Government is making provisions to assist St. Vincent and the Grenadines should an explosive eruption take place at La Soufriere volcano and resident have to be evacuated. In December 2020 authorities there became concerned when the volcano rumbled to life. There is an effusive eruption or the slow emission of magma occurring at the site. It is not an explosive eruption which is the more dangerous of the two types of eruptions. The volcano last erupted on April 1979. Fortunately there were no casualties.
