Government Increases Subventions To Organizations For Differently-Abled Individuals
The government has announced a significant boost in support for institutions serving differently-abled individuals. Starting with the next budget, these organizations will receive increased subventions as part of a broader effort to promote equity and inclusion for persons with disabilities in Saint Lucia.
This initiative aims to address ongoing challenges, including discrimination by employers and in the workplace, ensuring that differently-abled individuals have equal opportunities to thrive and contribute to society.
Police Traffic Unit to rebrand as the Department of Road Safety in January 2025
Starting January 2025, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force’s Traffic Unit will be upgraded and rebranded as the Department of Road Safety and Traffic Investigations. This change is part of the Police Force’s initiative to strengthen road law enforcement, following a rise in road accidents throughout the year.
PM Philip J. Pierre Praises CXC Top Achievers
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre met with the Caribbean Examinations Council’s top achievers this morning, ahead of the upcoming Regional Top Awards Ceremony, which will be held in Saint Lucia. While there were no local top achievers this year, the Prime Minister expressed optimism, stating that the future of the Caribbean remains bright.
