Saint Lucia has recorded its highest-ever homicide toll, with 77 lives lost to gun violence in 2024. The latest victim, 25-year-old Nyim Calendar, was found fatally shot along Marc Road in Bexon around 2 a.m. Saturday. Police have launched an investigation into the tragic incident.
This alarming spike in gun violence highlights a worsening crisis on the island, despite Police Commissioner Verne Garde’s September vow to curb criminal activity.
