JEREMIAH NORBERT ANNOUNCES NEW CRIME PREVENTION AND DISABILITIES INITIATIVES

The Minister for Home Affairs, Crime Prevention, and Persons with Disabilities, Jeremiah Norbert, has unveiled key initiatives aimed at strengthening the ministry’s impact in the coming fiscal year. Speaking during the debate on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, Norbert highlighted the establishment of a dedicated Disabilities Unit and announced plans to hire a Research Officer to coordinate crime prevention efforts.

BRADLEY FELIX WARNS GOVERNMENT POLICIES MAY BE DRIVING UP PRICES

Choiseul/Saltibus MP Bradley Felix is raising alarm over rising living costs, warning that government tax policies and initiatives may be worsening the situation. During the debate on the Estimates, Felix pointed to the Health and Security Levy and fuel taxes as key contributors to domestic inflation, while also urging action to address increasing freight rates and port costs to ease the financial strain on citizens.

NIC AMENDS LEGISLATION TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY AND ACCESS

The National Insurance Corporation (NIC) has announced key amendments to its legislation, aimed at enhancing efficiency, accessibility, and customer satisfaction. The newly enacted National Insurance Corporation (Amendment) Act No. 21 of 2024 allows beneficiaries to instruct the NIC on various benefit transactions. Additionally, the NIC (Amendment) Regulations No. 8 of 2025 introduces updated claim forms and other prescribed documents to streamline benefit processing.
