NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL HEADS TO CRUCIAL ELECTION AMID PUSH FOR RELEVANCE AND REVIVAL.

After years of limited activity, the Saint Lucia National Youth Council (SLNYC) is preparing for a comeback as it heads into general elections on Saturday, January 31st. Amid public debate about the council’s relevance, candidates say the organization is more necessary than ever, especially as young people face rising social, economic, and mental health challenges.
One of those candidates is Esther Destiny Tommy, who is contesting the post of Public Relations Officer. Actively involved in youth empowerment, environmental conservation, and social advocacy, she believes the council must serve as a strong, credible voice for young people and influence policies in their favour. She encourages voters to participate wisely and support leadership that can restore confidence in the organization.
