The St. Lucia government has officially stopped Uber from operating on the island, declaring the company’s planned January 27, 2026 launch illegal. The matter was addressed during Monday’s pre-Cabinet press briefing, amid strong objections from local taxi operators who warn that approval of the ride-sharing service could threaten their livelihoods.
