Saint Lucia and the United States have reached agreement on the operating procedures for a deal that could see certain third-country nationals transferred from the United States to Saint Lucia.
But Foreign Affairs Minister Alva Baptiste says the arrangement is not an automatic transfer programme, and the government is still awaiting Washington’s response to a package outlining Saint Lucia’s financial requirements.
Baptiste made the disclosure during Tuesday’s sitting of the House of Assembly, as he provided details on the agreement and the negotiations surrounding it.
