Forty-three-year-old Vernon Auguste, also known as “Fat Dog,” was fatally shot on Sunday at Water Works Road, Castries. This incident brings Saint Lucia alarmingly close to surpassing last year’s total number of recorded homicides, with just three more needed to exceed the 2023 figure. Residents in the area have expressed deep concern over the escalating crime rate on the island, describing it as a growing threat to community safety.
