The Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA) has terminated its contract with Taiwanese construction firm Overseas Engineering & Construction Co. (OECC). The company was responsible for constructing the Air Traffic Control Tower under the Hewanorra International Airport Redevelopment Project. SLASPA cited multiple breaches of contract by OECC as the reason for the termination.
A new tender process will be launched to select a contractor to complete the project, which is now scheduled for early 2025. This change is expected to increase the costs of what is already Saint Lucia’s largest public infrastructure project.
