Mother of Murder Victim Has No Confidence in Police Promises
Mary Willams Mother of Kimberly De Leon who was shot and killed in her apartment 3 years ago does not seem to have much faith in Police promises to update her on the status of the case.. Williams has always complained that updates on investigations have not been forthcoming. One Commissioner has retired and his replacement is soon to go on retirement as well no so signs that the case is any closer to a conclusion
Gov. Looking Address Rice & Sugar Shortage
The Government through the Ministry of Commerce is taking steps to cushion the impact of rising food prices by subsidizing some basic commodities such as sugar flour and rice. The announcement follows discussions between the Ministry and the private sector.
Two Men Victims of Suspected Suicides
The lifeless bodies of two men were found hanging from separate trees in different parts of the island. The unpleasant discoveries were made by relatives of the individuals Monday evening at La Clery and in Laborie.
We spoke to a relative of one of the victims who speculates that his death is due to suicide. Police are investigating the deaths.
Company Heads Fail to Show Up for Labour Dept Meeting, Angers TUF
The Trade Union Federation is upset over what it describes as blatant disrespect being displayed by North American Assemblies for the Labour Department. Company representatives failed to show up for a meeting with officials of the TUF and the workers to discuss the recent firing of several employees for failing to be vaccinated against COVID 19.
The meeting was scheduled to take place this morning.
The Union says it will not rest until the matter is settled. This includes seeking redress through the courts.
Roaming Visitors Sparks Anger Among Locals
Videos circulating on social media over the weekend showing tourists sightseeing and also at the beach , have stirred the ire of some locals who have pointed out a disparity between the allowances for visitors and locals.
The Ministry of Tourism on Sunday issued a statement in response to the videos explaining the cruise tourism operation had been authorized.
Sunday was a no movement day in St Lucia , as part of measures to prevent interaction among people from different households and communities to reduce the spread of COVID 19.

Former Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says his letter of resignation to the United Workers Party was turned down. The Former Prime Minister was noncommittal about his future with the party when questioned recently. The questions followed the resignation of other senior party members.
Family Gets Justice for Murdered Soufriere Man
The family of Daniel Esnard are breathing a sigh of relief after the two men, charged in his stabbing death were convicted. A high court judge on October 6th, 2021 sentenced both Don Ishmael and Leroyson Gilbert to an equal sentence of 208 months for Esnard’s murder. Esnard’s sister however laments that conditions at the Soufriere Hospital, which the family has partly blamed for Esnard’s demise, still have not changed.
Spitting Incident Led to Brawl at Prison
Spitting seems to have instigated a brawl at the Bordelais Correctional Facility on Wednesday. Director of Corrections, Hilary Herman, says there will be an investigation into the incident involving officers and inmates which was recorded by one of the prisoners.
