The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Elderly Affairs, in partnership with the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities (CVC), is strengthening HIV prevention efforts in St. Lucia through education and capacity building.

As part of its sensitization initiatives, the Ministry hosted workshops in both the north and south of the island, titled “Sensitization of Healthcare Professionals and Private Sector Providers on the Use and Prescribing of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP).”

The sessions targeted district medical officers, family nurse practitioners, and private sector providers.

WASCO has announced three critical projects aimed at improving Saint Lucia’s water infrastructure, with a particular focus on the north of the island.

Addressing long-standing challenges caused by aging infrastructure at the Water Treatment Plant, WASCO will soon begin extensive rehabilitation works, funded by a US $4.2 million loan from the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF). The loan was secured with the support of the Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Finance.

At the official signing ceremony, WASCO CEO Zylta George-Leslie outlined the urgent need to replace and upgrade the plant’s aged filters, ensuring improved water quality and service reliability for communities.
