Customs Department Introduces New Efficiency Measures
The Customs and Excise Department has introduced a series of initiatives designed to enhance efficiency and simplify processes for the business community. A key proposal is the reconfiguration of the customs release order system, which includes a new color-coding mechanism. Under this system, a green indicator will signal that goods can be released without further customs intervention. This update allows brokers to print release orders from their own premises, significantly reducing wait times.
Banana Farmers To Receive Compensation For Leaf Spot Damage
Dennery North M.P. Shawn Edward has confirmed that banana farmers impacted by leaf spot disease will receive compensation. Speaking on Friday, Edward reassured farmers that the government is taking swift action to support them. Additionally, Minister for Agriculture Alfred Prospere announced the distribution of 15,000 gallons of oil to farmers, with more supplies expected soon.
