In a bold step toward tackling the island’s growing non-communicable disease crisis, the National Insurance Corporation has launched a new initiative to “train the trainers.” Fitness instructors from across Saint Lucia are being certified to lead community workouts using the NIC’s outdoor gyms—part of a wider plan to make fitness accessible, free, and embedded in everyday life. The aim: to turn parks and public spaces into hubs of health, movement, and prevention.
