Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre on Thursday sought to spell out the rationale behind government’s 2.5% health and security levy. The new levy was announced by the prime minister in his budget address on Tuesday and drew quick criticism. It seeks to channel funds toward improving healthcare and national security and takes effect in July this year.
