Tourism Minister Ernest Hilaire has taken issue with the removal of a temporary fence erected at Reduit Beach to facilitate upgrade works by a hotel developer.
The action was reportedly carried out last week by an independent candidate in Saint Lucia’s December 2025 general election, who cited a lack of notice to beach users as the reason for removing the barrier.
Also addressing the matter during Monday’s pre-Cabinet press briefing was Kenson Casimir, the Member of Parliament for Gros Islet, who stated that the action was not in accordance with the law.
