The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition is strengthening Saint Lucia’s ability to detect and respond to disease outbreaks early. As part of Vaccination Week of the Americas 2026, healthcare workers from across the ministry participated in specialized training focused on surveillance for vaccine-preventable diseases. The session highlighted the use of syndromic surveillance — a system that monitors groups of symptoms to help health officials identify potential public health threats faster and improve response efforts to better protect the population.
