DRY SEASON WARNING ISSUED AMID WATER SHORTAGES
Residents of Saint Lucia are being cautioned not to assume that the island’s water shortages are over despite intermittent rainfall in recent days.
The head of the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services says the country is currently in the peak of the dry season.
The shortage of potable water has prompted the hospitality sector to arrange the importation of water from Dominica, with a shipment expected to arrive on March 19th. Meanwhile, customers of the Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) continue to face irregular service and are being encouraged to harvest rainwater where possible.

PM URGES RAINWATER HARVESTING AMID WATER CRISIS
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre is urging citizens of Saint Lucia to embrace rainwater harvesting as the government confronts an estimated $200 million bill to repair the island’s aging water infrastructure.
With the situation worsening, the Prime Minister is also calling for politics to be set aside, stressing that addressing the water crisis requires a unified national approach.
