VANDALISM AND PARENT HARASSMENT HAVE SCHOOL PRINCIPALS CALLING FOR URGENT ACTION.
Growing incidents of student vandalism targeting school administrators, along with social media threats and harassment directed at educators by parents, are raising alarm within the education sector. The President of the National Principals’ Association is now calling for urgent action, warning that the erosion of respect for teachers and principals is creating an increasingly hostile environment in schools. He is urging parents to work alongside educators—not against them—to help guide children toward positive behaviour and responsible citizenship.

FORECASTS PREDICT A BELOW-AVERAGE HURRICANE SEASON, BUT OFFICIALS URGE VIGILANCE AGAINST COMPLACENCY
The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season officially begins today, June 1st, and runs through November 30th. Multiple forecasts, including from NOAA, Colorado State University, the UK Met Office, and Tropical Storm Risk, all predict a below-average to near-normal season. Forecasters expect 6 to 14 named storms, with 3 to 7 possible hurricanes. An expected El Niño pattern is likely to increase wind shear over the Atlantic, suppressing storm development despite warmer ocean temperatures.
