Saint Lucia is preparing to take its history beneath the waves, with the unveiling of a new underwater attraction designed to bring the island’s story to life beneath its west coast waters. The first phase of the Underwater Sculpture Park focuses on Saint Lucia’s history and identity, featuring sculptures depicting key milestones — from the island’s first settlers and colonial conflicts to enslavement, resistance and the people who helped shape the nation.
The sculptures have now been completed and were unveiled to the public at a national exhibition in Odsan, ahead of their installation along the west coast. The initiative is also expected to create new opportunities in marine adventure tourism, attract private investment and help ease pressure on existing dive sites and coral reefs.
