The St. Lucia Animal Protection Society (SLAPS) continues its mission to rescue and rehome dogs in need but faces challenges when it comes to one particular breed—the pit bull. Despite evidence showing that a dog’s behavior is shaped by upbringing rather than breed, stigma and importation bans in some countries leave these dogs with limited options for adoption. SLAPS is calling on compassionate individuals to give these misunderstood animals a second chance at a loving home.
