Amid grief and celebration, Venezuela marked a major milestone on Sunday. The country commemorated the 215th anniversary of its independence while paying tribute to the victims of the devastating June 24 earthquake during a special ceremony at Bideau Park in Castries.
Ambassadors to and from Venezuela, government officials and members of the diplomatic corps attended the event in a show of solidarity as the South American nation continues its recovery efforts. Despite the loss of lives and the economic setbacks caused by the disaster, the ceremony highlighted the resilience of the Venezuelan people and the support of their regional allies.
