On March 25th, the world pauses to honor the victims of the transatlantic slave trade. The United Nations officially designated this date as the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade in 2007, to acknowledge the atrocities of slavery and empower people of African descent. It also seeks to address the ongoing impact of slavery through reparations and education.
