Business Sector Wants A Greater Say In Policies That Impact Them

The Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture is calling for an annual roundtable with government to ensure the business sector has a say in the formulation of policies affecting it. The Chamber for example has previously voiced concerns about not being properly consulted before the implementation of the Minimum Wage. During the Chamber’s 140th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, the President raised broader issues surrounding the lack of consultation on the government’s fiscal policies. To address this, the President proposed a solution to ensure that the private sector is always included in future policy discussions.

Minibus operators are threatening drastic action to draw attention to their concerns about the ongoing West Coast Road Rehabilitation Project. The National Council on Public Transportation (NCOPT) reports that frustrated bus drivers are prepared to park their vehicles, citing costly damages to their buses allegedly caused by poor road conditions along the project route.
