Saint Lucia Celebrates Centenarian Nathaniel “Gato” Hippolyte

Saint Lucia welcomed its newest Centenarian, Nathaniel “Gato” Hippolyte, on Old Year’s Night. Celebrating his 100th birthday at Orchid Gardens in Union, Mr. Hippolyte’s family reflected on his life, raising 13 children and now having over 50 grandchildren. Despite losing his sight at 98, he remains independent and active, attending church every Sunday. His children fondly remember his strong work ethic, strict parenting, and enduring principles.

Ministry Of Equity Collaborates With Taiwan Embassy To Donate Essential Items

The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Simply Help Foundation, has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion and empowerment. On December 11, 2024, a ceremony held at the Ministry’s conference room officially marked the donation of essential items to the people of Saint Lucia, highlighting a collective effort to support the nation’s most vulnerable communities.

ECCB Appoints Official Administrator For FICS

Effective January 6, 2025, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has appointed Niguel Streete as the Official Administrator for Financial Investment and Consultancy Services Limited (FICS). The move follows consultation with FICS’ Board of Directors and Management. FICS remains under ECCB’s regulatory oversight and continues to serve its customers.

Saint Lucia Enacts New Land Development Regulations

Saint Lucia has taken a significant step toward regulating land development with the introduction of new legislation. Effective November 1, 2024, the Land Development Regulations, including the Saint Lucia Building Code and Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, have officially been enacted into law. The Development Control Authority is informing the public about updated fees and the introduction of new forms that accompany these changes.
