Education Minister Updates On School Security And Laptop Distribution

Education Minister Shawn Edward has provided an update on school issues since the start of the second term, highlighting progress in school security with the installation of CCTV cameras and alarm systems. He also announced an upcoming meeting with the St. Lucia Teachers Union and the National Principals Association to focus on teacher well-being. NSDC And Taiwan Mission Empower Youth Through Skill Certification Program

The National Skills Development Centre (NSDC), in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission, is continuing to offer programs aimed at empowering athletes through skill development. The initiative is part of the NSDC’s goal to certify all youth on the island in a skill by 2030. Currently, 50 athletes are enrolled in the pilot program and are expected to receive their certifications by March this year.

No Plans For Demolition Of Unsound CDC Buildings

Uncertainty looms over the future of five structurally unsound CDC buildings in Castries as Housing Minister Richard Frederick confirms that there are no immediate plans for their demolition. The minister’s comments come after safety concerns prompted the demolition of CDC Block X in 2023. Residents of the remaining buildings, identified as structurally compromised, continue to await a definitive course of action from the National Housing Corporation.
